Neil Williams
Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon
BVetMed MRCVSAfter graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 1998, Neil spent seven years in a mixed practice on the Welsh Borders, followed by a short stint working for DEFRA. He then spent five years travelling the country as a locum vet, before joining us permanently and becoming a clinical director in 2018. He enjoys the variety and challenges of his role, including the increasing use of acupuncture in dogs and cats. Outside of work, he loves spending time in the countryside, both on foot and on two wheels.

Lindsey Jones
Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon
BVM&S MRCVSLindsey graduated from Edinburgh University in 2001 with a distinction. She spent the next 18 months working in large and small animal practices in Derbyshire, before taking a year out to travel around the world. She joined our team in 2003, progressing to clinical director in 2018, and is interested in all aspects of medicine and surgery.

Rebecca Bennett
Veterinary Surgeon
BVM&S PgCertDent (WBIS) MRCVSAfter graduating with distinction from Edinburgh University in 1999, Rebecca spent nine years at a mixed practice in Mid Wales and various emergency night clinics. She joined the Quarry team in 2008 and especially enjoys working with our feline patients, as she visits Shropshire Cat Rescue every week. She also has a keen interest in veterinary dentistry and spends a significant amount of time carrying out feline dental procedures, having passed her certificate in dentistry with merit. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog, trail running, camping, gardening and spending time with her partner and friends.

Lesley Chamley
Veterinary Surgeon
BVMS MRCVSLesley joined the team in 2017, the same year she relocated to the area with her husband and their dog, Betty. They fell in love with the area and its opportunities for hill climbing. She enjoys working as part of such a strong team, with a focus on patients while still having time for people – the sort of vets who want to take her own pet to!

Georgia Watson
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSGeorgia began working for Quarry in 2014 and soon felt like part of the family. Prior to joining us, she worked in general practice for two years and spent time volunteering in South Africa, where she dealt with species including elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino. Her clinical interests include canine and feline medicine. At home, she and her husband are kept busy with their young daughter and their dog, Lily. She also enjoys singing in a local choir and baking.

Dr Charlie Hertel
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSCharlie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019 and has been working at Quarry Vets ever since. She has two cats and a dog, Dylis, who loves exploring the Welsh and Shropshire countryside with her. She is also our practice’s green champion, helping us work towards our bronze Investors in the Environment award.

Lizzie Booth
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc BSAVAPGCertSAM MRCVSLizzie graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 and later worked at a practice in North Wales for nearly 10 years, before joining the Quarry team in 2021. She has a particular interest in canine and feline medicine and holds a post-graduate BSAVA certificate in small animal medicine, which she achieved a distinction in. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the Shropshire countryside with her dog, Ghyll.

Romana Vince
Head Nurse
RVNRomana started her career at a mixed practice in Shrewsbury in 1996, after which she spent time working abroad. She initially joined us as a receptionist, before taking the opportunity to complete her training and going on to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2004. Her responsibilities have grown over the years and she now enjoys working as our head nurse. In her spare time, she teaches local yoga classes and enjoys spending time with her family.

Rachel Swannick
Deputy Head Nurse
RVN CertVNECCAfter completing her nursing training in 1998, Rachel worked at small animal practices in Belfast and Edinburgh, a large mixed practice in Dorset and a specialist equine practice in Wiltshire. She has been with our team for over 10 years and has developed interests in emergency and trauma medicine, anaesthesia and surgery. She holds a Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency and Critical Care, which involved 18 months of research, assignments and exams.

Lucie Hobden
Veterinary Nurse
RVNLucie qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 1996, and worked as a head nurse at a practice in Telford before joining our practice in 2000. Over the years, she has been granted “Dematt Queen”, as there is no moggy too matted that she can’t make over! In the future, she hopes to develop her skills within the sensitive area of euthanasia and bereavement, something that is inevitably an all too familiar occurrence in our profession. She lives with her husband, three children and many pets (most of which she acquired through her job).

Amy Hallam
Veterinary Nurse
RVNAmy qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2009 and joined the Quarry team in 2016. She has a passion for theatre work and anaesthetic, as well as infection control, having completed a course on the topic – she can regularly be found around the practice with gloves and cloths in hand! When she’s not working, she is kept busy with her children and pets, and enjoys travelling and socialising with her friends.

Owen Morris
Veterinary Nurse
RVNOwen completed work experience and summer work with our practice as a teenager, and later spent time at a mixed practice just over the Welsh border. He qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Quarry in 2021, and enjoys all aspects of his role, particularly veterinary physiotherapy.

Michelle Street
Veterinary Nurse
RVNMichelle joined our nursing team in 2016 and enjoys caring for our patients, talking to clients, monitoring anaesthetics, laboratory work and diagnostic imaging. She also has a particular passion for helping pets achieve a healthy shape and weight, and runs regular weight clinics at the practice.

Mary Kirrane
Veterinary Nurse
RVNMary qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2008 in Ireland, before moving to the UK in 2010. She joined Quarry Vets in 2021 and enjoys the variety of her role. She shares her home with her two children and their pet dog and tortoise.

Donna Owen
Veterinary Nursing Assistant
Donna has been a veterinary nursing assistant since 1999. Before joining our practice in 2013, she spent eight years working at a mixed practice. Away from work, she is a busy mum of three and has three dogs, two cats, guinea pigs and sheep. When she does get a moment to herself, she loves retreating to the garden with her plants and veg.

Hannah Wait
Veterinary Nursing Assistant
Hannah joined us in 2014 and is passionate about animal behaviour and welfare, which has earned her the nickname “the cat whisperer”. She enjoys helping those pets that get very stressed and upset, and hopes to improve their experience and make their visit less stressful. Outside of work, she loves to do Canicross with her dog, Loric.

Angie Davies
Receptionist
Angie has been with us since 2004 and has an adopted rescue cat called Lottie, who she enjoys watching wildlife programmes with. On Friday evenings, she enjoys playing snooker at her local club with her husband.

Sally Vow
Receptionist
Sally joined our team in 2007 and loves that no two days are the same. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the theatre and spending time with her cat, Miss Stella Artois, and her dog, Dodger, both rehomed through our practice.

Rene Jones
Receptionist
Before joining us in 2019, Rene worked in education, both in primary school administration and pre-school childcare. Outside of work, she has two daughters and four rescue cats and enjoys volunteering for local charities such as Shropshire Cat Rescue, where she bakes for their open days. She is also a secretary for her local cricket club and managed a ladies indoor cricket team.

Alex Thomas
Veterinary Nursing Assistant and Receptionist
Alex joined us as a receptionist in 2019, and completed her veterinary care assistant training a few years later. She has also completed short courses on canine body language and reactivity. Away from work, she can often be found out on adventures with her dogs, either out in the countryside, woods or at the beach.

Kelly Cope
Receptionist
Kelly joined the Quarry reception team in 2022, having previously worked as a receptionist at a dog rescue centre. She has a rescue dog of her own called Lottie, as well as a cat called Milo. In her own time, she enjoys visiting the beach and spending time in the garden.

Molly Butcher
Receptionist
Molly has been with us since 2024. In her own time, she enjoys going out on adventures with her dogs and spending time at the stables with her horses, who are her pride and joy.

Shirley Phillips
Practice Manager
Shelley joined the practice in 1998 as a receptionist and became practice manager in 2008. She enjoys working within the veterinary industry, especially with such a caring and dedicated team. Away from work, she loves spending time with her grandchildren and walking her dog, Nell.
