Meet the Team

Having graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1998, I spent 7 years in a very mixed practice on the Welsh Borders, with a short stint working for DEFRA. I then spent 5 years travelling the country as a locum vet, including 12 months at Quarry Veterinary Group in 2012. I loved working at Quarry so much it convinced me to stop the locum work and stay on here full time.  In early 2018 I became one of the Clinical Directors.

I love the challenges and variety of work in a first opinion practice, including an increasing use of acupuncture in dogs and cats.

Outside of work I love spending time in the amazing Shropshire/Welsh countryside, on foot or, more commonly, 2 wheels.

I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2001, gaining my BVM&S with distinction. I spent the next 18 months working in large and then small animal practices in Derbyshire before taking a year out to travel around the world.

I joined Quarry Veterinary Group in November 2003 as a "GP" small animal vet, interested in all aspects of medicine and surgery. In 2018 I became one of two Clinical Directors at the practice.

I joined Quarry Vets in September 2008 having spent the first 9 years of my career in mixed practice in Mid Wales. Following a further intense 9 months working across the UK in 15 different emergency night clinics, I was tempted to the lovely Shrewsbury and have been here ever since.  

Working with our feline patients gives me a lot of enjoyment and job satisfaction, and I do a weekly visit to our local cat rescue, Shropshire Cat Rescue. More recently I have integrated my love of cats with my interest in veterinary dentistry, and now spend a significant amount of time doing feline dental procedures. I have gained a certificate in Dentistry, passing with Merit.  

In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my dog, trail running, camping, gardening and spending time with my partner and friends.  

I graduated with Distinction from Edinburgh University in 1999.  

In 2017 my husband and I came, along with our little dog Betty, to Shropshire for weekend's hill-walking and thought 'this is nice, let's go and live there!'. A few months later, I'd left the practice where I'd been for 19 years in the flatlands of East Anglia to begin work at Quarry Vets.

Since I started here, it has been quite inspirational to see what a strong team there is. Everyone is focused on our patients whilst still having time for people too. I'm so happy to be a new member of the Quarry team - the sort of vets I'd want to take my pet to! As a bonus, we no longer have to travel half way across the country to find a hill to climb!

I began working for Quarry Vets in October 2014 and soon felt like part of the family. Prior to this I worked in general practice for 2 years. I also spent a month volunteering alongside a wildlife vet in South Africa, dealing with many species including elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino .I really enjoy meeting clients and their pets and I have a particular interest in canine and feline medicine. At home my husband and I are kept busy looking after our young daughter and our rather bouncy Black Labrador, Lily. In my spare time I enjoy singing in a local choir and baking when I get the chance.

I graduated from the university of Liverpool in 2019 and have been working at Quarry Vets ever since! I have two cats and a Springer Spaniel, Dylis, that loves exploring the Welsh and Shropshire countryside with me.

I have recently become the Green Champion for Quarry Vets and we are striving towards earning our bronze Investors in the Environment award as part of our move to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. 

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 and worked in a practice in North Wales for nearly 10 years before joining the team at Quarry in November 2021. I have a particular interest in canine and feline medicine and I have recently gained my Post Graduate BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, passing with distinction.

I am looking forward to exploring the Shropshire countryside and finding some new dog walks with my border terrier, Ghyll.

I first started nursing in a mixed practice outside Shrewsbury in 1996, enjoying all aspects of the job from nursing cats & dogs to assisting the vet with cow and sheep caesareans at all hours of the day After a short break to work abroad a position came up to join Quarry Vets as a Receptionist. After a short time, I was given the opportunity to begin my Veterinary Nurse training which I jumped at and went on to qualify in 2004. Over the years at Quarry I have worked with so many great vets, nurses and receptionists that I have never wished to leave.

My responsibilities have grown over the years and so I have taken on the role of Head Nurse, where I get to work with a really fab bunch of Nurses.

In my spare time I also teach Yoga classes in a local village and I am kept busy with my lovely family.

I began training as a veterinary nurse after finishing school and qualified 4 years later in 1998. I have worked in small animal practices in Belfast and Edinburgh, in a large mixed practice in Dorset and a specialist equine practice in Wiltshire. I returned to Shropshire 10 years ago and took up a position here at Quarry

I have special interests in emergency and trauma medicine, and anaesthesia & surgery. I recently gained my Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency and Critical Care after 18 months of research, assignments and exams.

I view Veterinary nursing as a true vocation and I have never considered doing anything else.

I began my training back in 1992 at a neighbouring practice in Shrewsbury and attended a full time Veterinary Nurse course at Rodbaston Agricultural College where I successfully gained my qualification in 1996. Since qualifying, I have worked as a head nurse in a small animal practice in Telford before joining Quarry in 2000. It was clear from the start that Quarry was a fantastic place to work and, 18 years on, I still feel very privileged to be a part of such a great team.

My time at Quarry has been varied and fun, working with many great vets and learning lots along the way. The nursing team is well established and it helps that we are great friends. Over the years I have unintentionally adopted the title of “Dematt Queen” and there’s no moggy too matted that I can’t make over! I plan on developing my skill within the sensitive area of Euthanasia and Bereavement, something that is inevitably an all too familiar occurrence in our profession.

I cherish my time away from the practice and my home life keeps me extremely busy with a supportive husband, 3 lovely children and a menagerie of pets (most of which I have acquired through the job!).

I have been a Veterinary Nurse for 12 years, qualifying at Nantwich Veterinary Hospital in 2009. It was here I grew a love for theatre and anaesthetics. I was very lucky to work there and saw many interesting cases but, due to having a family, I decided to leave Nantwich and work closer to home.

I started at Quarry Vets in 2016, my dream practice due to it’s great reputation in Shrewsbury. I have recently completed an infection control course and can regularly be seen around the practice with gloves and cloths in hand!

When not at work I am kept very busy looking after my 2 children, dog, cat and fish. I enjoy travelling and socialising with my friends.

I started as a Veterinary Nurse at Quarry vets in 2019, a few years after moving to Shropshire. I have a keen interest in canine behaviour and training and have completed an advanced diploma in canine behaviour as well as becoming a member of the Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme. I have started running confidence clinics as well as behaviour clinics providing first aid behaviour advice to clients so you can often see me with lots of treats in my hand!

When I'm not at work I spend time training my dogs in agility, tricks and heelwork to music and taking my toddler on fun days out to keep out of mischief!

I was first introduced to Quarry Vets through work experience at the age of 16. Shortly after, I started casual work on Saturdays and school holidays to help out. In 2018 I started my Veterinary nurse training at Reaseheath college in Nantwich, with a mixed practice just over the Welsh border. 

In 2019 I moved, beginning my training at Quarry, I have never looked back. I passed my final written and practical exams in August of 2021, becoming a fully-fledged RVN. The team here at Quarry vets have pushed me and passed on the knowledge needed to excel in this career.

I enjoy all aspects of my job; every day brings new and exciting challenges. However, I have an interest in Veterinary Physiotherapy and at some point, in the near future wish to further this. 

In 2016, after 3 years of study, I achieved my dream of becoming a veterinary nurse and soon after became the newest member of the Quarry Nursing team

The role of a veterinary nurse is so varied and I love how everyday is different. Talking to clients, monitoring anaesthetics, laboratory work, diagnostic imaging – just a few of the things an average day may hold. The most important thing is giving plenty of TLC to all the animals that come here.

I am currently interested in helping owners to help their pets achieve and maintain an ideal weight. I recently started offering free weight clinics – even if you don’t think your pet is overweight, why not book an appointment to see me and check it stays that way.

I qualified in Ireland as a veterinary nurse in 2008. I moved to the UK in 2010 and I have been working as a small animal nurse since then. I began working for Quarry full-time in November 2021.

I have 2 beautiful children, a dog and a tortoise.

I really enjoy the variety of tasks performed by veterinary nurses. There is never a dull moment.

I have been a veterinary Nursing Assistant since 1999 and started with Quarry Veterinary Group in 2013. My first 8 years were spent working in mixed practice where I spent a lot of time out on farms. I soon realised I preferred working with smaller companion animals. I enjoy working with the close knit team of vets and nurses we have here at Quarry.

When I am not nursing, my time is spent being a busy Mum to 3 children 2 dogs 2 cats a handful of guinea pigs and sheep. When I manage to grab some spare time, I am usually found hiding in the garden (my second passion) amongst my plants and veg.

I have been a veterinary Nurse Assistant at Quarry for 12 years. One of the things I am most passionate about is animal behaviour and wellbeing (I am known as the cat whisperer in work!). I like to make sure all the pets that come into our care have a positive and calm experience. I really enjoy helping those pets that get very stressed and upset, and I hope to improve their experience and make their visit less stressful. I hope to expand my knowledge in Animal Behaviour over the next few years

Outside of work I love to do Canicross with my dog Loric.

In 2004 I applied for several secretarial jobs without any success. I saw a job advertised at Quarry Vets for a receptionist, applied, and was offered the post. I'm still here today as I love the variety of the role.

I have had dogs in the past but have now made the switch to a "mad cat lady" and have adopted a cat from Shropshire Cat Rescue who I have named Lottie. I love watching her antics and we enjoy watching wildlife programmes together.

On Friday evenings, my husband and I enjoy a game of snooker at our local club.

No two days are the same, although they're always busy!

Outside of work I enjoy going to the theatre and spending time with Miss Stella Artois, my cat, and Dodger the Dog - both rehomed through Quarry Vets. 

I joined Quarry's reception team in early 2019. My previous experience is in education, both primary school admin and pre-school childcare, but from an early age I've always had a love of animals and have 4 rescue cats at home.

Outside of work I'm a mum of two girls, I enjoy volunteering for a few charities but mainly with Shropshire Cat Rescue and bake for their open days. I'm secretary for a local cricket club and often makes their cricket tea! I organize and manage an elite ladies indoor cricket team. I enjoy making celebration cakes and I love a good quiz.

I joined the Quarry team in early 2019 as a receptionist and in mid 2021 I started my training to be a veterinary care assistant. I have also completed short courses on canine body language and reactivity.

In my spare time you'll find me out on adventures with my dogs, either out in the countryside, woods or at the beach!

After a background working as a Dental Receptionist and then Practice Manager for 5 years I took some time away to have my little girl.

Wanting to steer back towards a reception environment I saw the receptionist job advertised for Quarry Vets, applied and was very excited to be offered the position, back in an environment I love and having a little girl that loves animals, I feel very much at home with the lovely team here.

In my spare time I love spending it with my family and friends, be it days out, walks or arts and crafts with my little girl.

I joined the Quarry reception team in November 2022, having previously worked as a receptionist in a Rescue Kennels.

I love being around animals and have a rescue dog called Lottie, and a cat called Milo.

In my spare time I enjoy going for walks with Lottie, visiting the beach and spending time in the garden

I joined Quarry Veterinary Group in 1998 working on reception, and took over the role of practice manager in 2008. I really enjoy working within the veterinary industry, especially with such a caring and dedicated team.

I love spending time with my three grandchildren and going for walks with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Nell.
